Something different for today... a positive thread.

We saw glimpses last season of this bloke, before he broke his leg.

First three weeks this season though he has been fantastic. I'll admit I am biased, he has been one of my favorites since he got to the club, but three 20+ possesion games has been a good start. He finds the ball well around the packs, can make good positioning around the ground, is damn quick, smart and disposes of the ball very well. His tackling is also top notch.

I think he lead the game for effective kicks today with 18, and was our best for inside 50s. The guy has been a great addition this season and provides the run and carry that is essential to our game plan. I think that he will become, if he is not already, a vital part to our team and its success.

A huge improver and has been fantastic. I personally thought he was BOG for us today.

Can anyone tell me how many hard ball gets he got today?

He now believes he belongs, and is playing accordingly. Not everyone is a Judd that steps straight into it. he has been outstanding.

Never rated him before. Thought he was one of those players who looked fast, but decision making was slow & got caught or stuffed up the kick or handball. Impressed with him this year. Backs himself & doesn't hesitate anymore. After missing a couple of shots at goal in the 1st, he centered the ball with a good pass. Will be an important player for us.

Take a bow Mr Winderlich. You have stepped up and announced yourself. Obviously still developing, so there is room for more improvement....and had you of kicked those two goals in the 1st quarter, you would certainly have been a match winner yesterday. You have the potential to becoming a very dangerous goal kicking midfielder.....just work on that goal kicking.

Been waiting for this to happen for a couple of years now, and the signs were good last year before he broke his leg. Great to see he has not only picked up from where he left off, but he's even taken it up a notch or two. Easliy the biggest plus of the year so far.

Agree with Filthy

Encouraging signs but needs to be more damaging.

I always have felt that despite glimpses of mercurial brilliance, our midfield is a little brittle still. I would like to say young and inexperienced is the excuse but then one only had to look at the young and inexperienced Blues midfield yesterday after qtr time to see the difference.

To be honest, I still wish we had nabbed Gibbs. I am sure Gumby will be fine but boy, Gibbs, Murphy etc. CArlton do have something special brewing.

Miss those and its an 80%.
Yep.

Had a great game, but those misses were unforgivable. Ditto Pev in the first quarter and Lovett / Lloyd in the last.

Judd would never have missed those and that is the standard everyone at the Club should aspire to.

May not reach it but its like reaching for the stars....you may not get one but you ain't going to get a handful of mud either.
He wasn't alone. Stanton missed on the run and so did Lovett. I agree that other midfielders need to kick more goals, we can't rely on the key forards to kick all our goals. Hope the coaches start druming this into them big time.

I'm glad he has continued to improve after the # last year.

He needs to kick better for goal, and he needs to be a little better overhead. I've seen him have 2 goes at overhead spoils this year and both were setup for him but he couldn't do it.
