Talk about everything Essendon. Past, Present and Future if it's about the Bombers this is the place to be.

attention gringo...thoughts on watson?

Post by tom9779 »

i wasn't overly impressed. Are you still a fan?

sorry, watched the game on telly.

jobe gets the ball a lot, but wastes it with a poor kick.

saw a couple of great handballs, but that was it.

Funny stuff.

Dont worry about Jobe tom9779. Sheeds will eventually get through to him that he is to handball to the runners - Stants, Winder, Ricky D; or kick long to CHF/FF. He is irreplacable as a genuine ball winner - and should be continually reminded of this strength.

My picture was of a storm in a teacup. Looks as though it didn't work.

Looks like a cyclone.

We need players who can go in and dish the ball out. We still lack in the clearances, so taking Watson out will hurt even more.

Watson was obivously under instructions to kick at all costs on the weekend, and didn't do too bad a job. As soon as he gains more confidence in this area he will be a very very damaging player.

Morning all! Love the illustrations – something about a thousand words springs to mind? Watson was as expected; super handball and pick up – terrible kicking and accountability. Still worth a spot in the team, though someone needs to be running past him to get the handball. We just can't afford to turn it over as often as Watson does.

Imagine how destructive he would be in the centre if he could actually kick.

It is a confidence thing. He has to kick it more, its the only way he will get better. Watch him at training and he cant miss a target.

Our whole game plan is based on backing ourselves, so he does have to kick more, but I would prefer it if he tried to kick it to the leading forward, rather than across the HB line. That way, if it is f***** up, its at least in our attacking half of the field.

Scotty West & Cross from the Doggies are both pretty ordinary kicks, but are great hand ballers. Better to get 27 touches & stuff up a few rather than not get your hands on the pill at all.

Indeed.

He used to play a lot of VFL and I saw plenty of him there and I really can't remember him being such a pathetic kick. So presumably somewhere deep inside him is the ability to kick alright.
