Hird and Fletcher set for Anzac Day

Essendon veterans James Hird and Dustin Fletcher are certain starters for tomorrow’s Anzac Day clash with Collingwood at the MCG. And the news gets even better with Leroy Jetta also a chance to play with his groin injury nowhere near as bad as first feared.

The Bombers’ fitness and medical teams have been working overtime to get the Essendon players back to full fitness following the weekend’s game against St Kilda.

The players have recovered well thanks to a thorough recovery plan that included time spent in the hyperbaric chamber, time on the beach and a player-specific dietary and supplement program.

Essendon will wait as long as possible to make a decision on ruckman David Hille who is suffering from a bruised chest and hamstring soreness.

Kepler Bradley and Mark Bolton didn’t play in the Bendigo Bombers team on Sunday and are on standby should they be required along with Nathan Lovett-Murray who has recovered from a groin injury.

Laycock id imagine. Ryder as well?
or Gumbi?
Can Bradley ruck?

Ryder would become second ruck and maybe NLM would play as loose man in defence

Kepler I can understand becasue we may need him to back-up in the ruck, but Bolton I can't understand. Why not bring in a guy like Houli, who has a future at our club?

Well Bradley and Bolton have been named as replacements for Jetta and Hille.

I don't like either of those. Would have preferred to see Houli in for Jetta. Ryder to play second ruck and probably NLM to come in on the HBF.

I'd be playing Bradley ahead of Bolton if Jetta is right.

He could help out in defence and pinch-hit in the ruck. There is no spot for Bolton. He isn't a forward (and i wouldn't be toying with our forward structure), he isn't a backman (as Fraser Gehrig) and he certainly isn't a midfielder.

He isn't required ... SIMPLE!!

By that rationale neither is Bradley.

You can shoot me down, but Bolts' form for Bendigo has been quite good. IMO he deserves the spot if needed. Put Chook in the ruck with Paddy relieving him. Bolts coming off the bench. Not a problem...

If Kepler cant make the team under these circumstances I genuinely fear for his future.

I would say, Dead Man Walking come Trade Week
