Game Plan/Strategy

Post by DYSON#2 »

ok i couldnt find this dissucssed anywhere else.

But why when coming out of defence and through the midfeild and into forward line are we kicking so short when we have 2 of the best marking forwards in the AFL in Lloyd/Lucas and potenially another one in Johns and at times the ruckman in Laycock/Ryder? We should be kicking long to these targets which inturn decreases the amount of time for opposition to get back in numbers. If the ball comes to ground the likes of Davey and Lovett to swoop on it and then we should have players streaming forward from the midfeild...

geez we play frustrating at times

Also interesting to note that our forwards always lead into the pockets. You rarely see them leading straight down the middle of the ground.

I got sick to death of the ******** in the commentary box predicting Fletch kicking it to the right and us trying to short kick it along the boundary for it to be spoiled and returned into the filth F50.

I would say 18-20 of the kickouts had the same MO today...

Maybe the master coach can answer your question Dyson. Wonder what the spin he will put on it

It was interesting at Half time seeing the analysis that Voss did on Fletcher's kickins. Malthouse had him covered with Cloke sitting on the target. All he had to do was create a contest and let his teammates swoop (no pun intended) on the ball in numbers and go straight back inside an open F50.

We never went down the middle... well rarely. When we did, we didn't look too bad, until someone would stuff up with a shocking kick or handball to a teammate under the pump.

The thing I found when we did go long was that we would bomb it inside 50 without thinking about it. If our forwards were behind, the ball would come in short. If they were on the lead, it would go in high and to the defender sitting off the back.

Our forward structure was pathetic today. Our delivery was just as bad, if not worse. With the exception of the Carlton game, our forward line has looked pretty hot this season, and at times it looked hot today, but in general it was very, very poor.

The chip passing in the defensive areas, playing down the wings and leading to the pockets were all big problems today.

Indeed chipping is starting to piss me off.

If you haven't got a proper target to go to, bomb long so at least if the other team gets it its further from their goals. Plus you never know what will happen if you kick long. 2nd Q, big Mal kicked long and Davey ran onto it for an awesome goal.
Aaron Francis is the Messiah.

23 points = 23 posessions in the back haalf which in today's game should = , say 15 inside 50's, which should lead to , say 5 extra goals. We were murdered yesterday, we should have won easily, just due to the "free" backhalf possesions. Clearly though, we had our injury concerns, poor selection choices, and some skill/out of form issues, so, a 5 goal win turns into a 3 goal loss. As with going into the Aints game, whether or not we have the ability to bounce back will take another 10 days agony to be answered.

Flecth kicks long to Thunder thighs mal at CHB and gives the quick hanball to Winders running the lines, he kicks from the center of the MCG long into the forward line "LLOYD" flies but the ball comes to the front of the pack and Davey swoops on it and snaps around his body from 30m out and kicks a great goal!!! the hawks are a farkin rabble now when the bombers play the long ball

ENCOURAGE IT SHEEDS
