Burgoyne is easier to block at stoppages where his lightning clearances are damaging.

There is no guarantee the umpires will always see the blocks on Burgoyne in crowded space. However, the greater responsibility rests with his Power team-mates to create screens for Burgoyne so that he can break away from taggers


So the umpires will penalise players who block Burgoyne but the Port players will be allowed to make a screen for him?

I don't mind at all if they said that they would prtect ball players and cut down on illegal tagging methods.

However they should NOT have a list of protected players. That makes them no longer unbiased.

The damning thing about that article is what it says about essendon, i.e. that we don't have anyone in the middle that's worth a hard tag.

They're probably pretty spot on there.
