Kangaroos Vs Essendon- MATCH THREAD

Post by Gossy7 »

Just to get it cracking.

I wont be around, i will be at the game.

Dons by 7 points. Houli with 13 posessions and 2 goals 1.

BOG- Paddy Ryder- After a top move from Sheedy, Ryder is moved forward and kicks 7, overshadowing Buddy Franklins last week.

:D Too right Rosso.

I wasn't planning on going but now I am. Excited to be seeing Houli in the seniors for the first time. I think we've got a chance of winning if the midfield move the ball on quickly (fast players get it and run!) and Lucas can get back into goal kicking form.

Probably more even than the maedia and recent form suggests.

I'll think we'll win tonight in a close match, on the basis that:
a) It's at the Dome;
b) Hille is a big in;
c) Kangaroos don't have a key forward to kick a bag on us like Franklin or Fevola.

I've tipped the right result in only one of Essendon's six matches so far this year, so take that with a grain of salt.

Point C is a very good point actually. Hadn't really thought of that but it is encouraging, although what's the best Edwards kicks his first bag!

Part A is so wrong though - we 0/4 at the Dome against the kangas.

Mohammed, this Houli kid seems to be carrying a weight of expectations on his shoulders, I personally will be rapt if he is able to just do one thing which shows he can mix it at the elite level, e.g. a swivel of the hips to evade a tacle, just something to show he belongs.

Add to that that Simpson may be out.

I dont think we will win as we are not hard enough at the footy.

:P No, last minute organising by my uncle.

I;m not so sure hardness will be such an issue. If JJ, Watson, Stanton and Pev get plenty of clearances again we just need the quicker guys to get running. And everyone must run both ways.

Last game ever with Hird and Archer on the field at the same time! First happened in 1992 I believe.
Very different players in different positions, but similar careers - 2 premierships each, 1 Norm Smith each, I'm guessing Archer was mulitple AA as well. Perhaps only Chas and captaincy separate the two for achievements.

all the behinds bar 1 should have been kicked with ease.... could be a couple of goals up but instead we are a couple down mid way through the first QTR, but like someone posted earlier in the week maybe we need to start behind the 8 ball since we can go on a win starting in front of it :P

1st QTR

Ess 2.9 21
Kan 4.0 24

straighter kicking would have us in front, and definately needs to improve if we are to win this game
