Lloyd, the leader in charge of troubled times, was self-centred yesterday. Twice in the third quarter he tried to kick goals from the boundary line -- and twice failed -- when a square up was not only required, but expected from a player setting team standards.
He has an un-endearing habit, too, of pushing his opponents in the back. Blatantly.
Lloyd couldn't be found post-match. Requested for an interview, it was let on that Lloyd was "angry" and didn't want to speak to the media.
Coincidentally, or not, when Sheedy's press conference was on 40 minutes after the game, Lloyd was apparently available. When the press conference finished 15 minutes later, Lloyd had left the MCG for home.
Odd, that the captain makes himself available for The Footy Show on Thursday, but not to the media and, by extension, Essendon members and fans wanting to know why a team turns in a 63-point loss - its worst of the season.
Indeed, some of the players wanted to get rid of him, or put another way, some players didn't protest vehemently when the decision was made.

It's got me buggered. Coaching fiasco aside. We always come up short when we play at the G. Lacklustre, insipid, call it what you will. We've been like this most of the year when we play the G so I wouldn't be getting to excited. We're just as likely to win over in Freo next week, then come back and get thumped by Carlton and Richmond (Even though they're both tanking).
Is it because we play at the Dome too much? Have we forgotten how to play in the elements? How bad was our disposal yesterday! If we can address the problem somehow, surely we'll improve further next year... Hopefully the new coaching staff will have the solution to this problem next year, as our current staff obviously don't...

I agree Gringo. Chook was one of the few highlights yesterday. Didn't stop trying. The others being Paddy on Franklin (Good signs again for next year) and Stants...

But he failed to mention that Buddy Franklin also does it..... the only difference is he got away with it yesterday
We don't play well at the G because we are too slow. At Telstra we get away with it but at the G we get found out. Skill errors are caused by our lack of speed and power through the midfield. Simple as that !

Which is what is so frustrating about it. It's the consistency thing.
Some get paid, others don't. Seems like if a team is playing well, things just fall into place. When you're not playing well, everything goes to shit.

Any Essendon member or supporter looking "for answers" in a newspaper or off a journo (especially given the media's track record this year) would be looking in the wrong place.

Laycock has been way better than Hille in the ruck this year. Personally i think Hille has been one of the biggest disappointments at the club this season.

Very good point Windy. In hindsight, it was wishfull thinking to imagine that life would go on as normal to the end of the season, we would make the finals and James would get an MCG send off.
Confidence is a very fragile commodity and as Windy states, there will be several players with genuine concern regarding thier futures.
This is the biggest disruption the club has faced in years and it is not a surprise that it has manifested itself on to the ground.
I realise there are other factors which impacted on our appalling display on Sunday, but do not lose sight of the fact that many of the team are very young and impressionable and will not cope particularly well with this disruption.

Laycock has been way better than Hille in the ruck this year. Personally i think Hille has been one of the biggest disappointments at the club this season.
Go watch Ess v WCE and then maybe think about that last statement.
I'm one of Hille's biggest critics, but he has been far from a disappointment this year. In fact I reckon he'll be in the top 10 at the B'n'F at this stage.
If you want disappointments go Google Monfries, Lloyd and Mcphee.
Hille launching his body at Cox at the centre bounces against West Coast was one of the most courageous and inspirational things I have seen all year (all teams and all games included).

These blokes earn their living by coaching and playing football full-time. Yet remain largely unaccountable for their poor discipline and poor decision making. And when it is constantly repeated (see Hawthorn, Kangaroos, Carlton) it becomes infuriating!
Robbo is bleeding over what he saw on Sunday (as any self-respecting Essendon fan should be). He more or less predicted this would happen on SEN on Thurday evening. So if he could see it coming and many others also - why couldn't the professional coaching staff and players who took the field?
