Hit Bell when Bell has his head over the ball. Easily the worst hit all year.

He should be rubbed out for atleast 5 matches. Bell had his head over the ball, and Johnson had no other intention than knocking his head off! He faced the tribunal last week and got a reprimand, with that in mind surely it will have to be a hefty suspension if the AFL are serious about protecting the players from head high contact.

He'll probably get off...

I didn't see it. What sort of level of severity are we talking here - similar in kind to the half-hearted Daniel Kerr v Cameron Bruce incident earlier this year, or the full monty like Byron Pickett v James Begley a few years back?

The incident is not on AFL Gameday. (Which isn't surprising really)

Could be anything between 1 and 6 the way the MRP is going this season.

Easy a 4 week job, and also cause he got done last week for a hit on a Richmond bloke.

The AFL should be using that footage as a prime example of what they don't want players to do. Don't expect anything less than 3 weeks for that. Very reckless.

Reckless. Ben Johnson plays for Collingwood he will get away with a reprimand.

it was a terrible hit, bell looked f***** when he went town.

to Johnosons defence, he looked very remorseful and worried for the rest of the game, a bit later when some melbourne players were bumping him and digging there sholders in, he did not retaliate or even defend against it, like he thought he deserved it, apparently after the game he did not join the team for the song, but instead went to check on the wellfare of bell.

still will get and deserve weeks, shocking hit, his season is over.

Heard Bondy (the worlds foremost tribunal expert) on AW discussing it this morning.

He classifies it as high contact. Says that if they classify it as reckless he will get 6 weeks (4 with the early guilty plea), or if they classify it as intentional, he will get 8 weeks (6 with the early guilty plea).

Dog act. He ran right off his line to hit him. Don't care that he is remorseful afterwards. Hitting someone when their head is over the pill = weak.

It was a more direct hit to the head than was Michael Longs on Simmonds in the '00 GF.

Shocking attempt. Seems like he just had a brain fade. Could have hurt the bloke permanently.

This case should be the tale for the MRP. If he gets any less than 4 weeks, the AFL should immediately replace the idiots on that panel.

The crowd after the incident said it all - you could've heard a pin drop (going off the telecast)

Very ugly.
