Game thread - Essendon v Fat Lance and the Carlton Kids.

Talk about everything Essendon. Past, Present and Future if it's about the Bombers this is the place to be.

Game thread - Essendon v Fat Lance and the Carlton Kids.

Post by dom_105 »

You might (rightfully) question why I created this thread almost 12 hours before the match.

Reason being of course is that this is not any other game. When the season is all but lost, it is these sort of games that set the tone for the summer break.

Last time we played them, I would rate that loss as one of the worst since the 99 Prelim, including the 2001 Grand Final and the belting against Adelaide last year. I had to put up with Carlton supporters that are mates/mates of mates coming out of the woodwork because the only shining light in their downright pathetic season was the fact that they beat us after being down a good 40 odd points.

In my short life supporting this club (relative to the rest of the BT'ers around here) there has been no bigger games than against Carlton and Collingwood, because most of the kids at primary/high school would support any one of the "big three" clubs.

The cheating f***sticks have had the wood over us since they cost us a shot in 99, it's just not right.

For godsakes, if you players can't do it for Hirdy, can't do it for Sheeds, can't do it to keep the finals dream alive, bloody well do it for me and the rest of the suffering supporters around here. We as a football club deserve better than getting beaten time and time again against the scum, of all teams.

Oh yeah, if you don't get my subtle use of 1970's/1980's pop culture in the thread title, this might help you out.

That's all well and good, but we are gonna need a vile of steroids labelled "100% effort", plus a kick up the arse from Rocky Balboa for each and every player, to get over the line against the bitchin Blues.

Thay hav tha wood ova us and wee r fahkd yet agehn. I hav given upp on seezen toothauzandandseven.

Maybe the title of the thread should be Essendon Fat Chance v Fat Lance judging by our recent history against the blues, and judging our recent form. But I know we will win today, and we all know why.....

But are we armed with anti-tank missles?

We have won some pretty games this year. The last 2 weeks have been a joke, but if we can put together some semblance of our best game we will roll these f****** in our own right.

This is no win stuff for us. We win, they tanked, we lose......

I agree, Sismis. It's a no win situation. I am about to head off to the G now and have this funny sinking feeling in my stomach.

Of course, I'd still rather see a win any day...

We are rubbish.

Skill error, after skill error, after skill error. Our entries inside 50 are haphazard at best. Carlton are out-running us in the midfield and taking marks inside 50.

Shithouse.

Go back Reimers and kick it. Don't dish it off when your 30 meters out.

Michael keeping Fevola quiet which is good. But Carlton are destroying us in the midfield which is bad.

Our field kicking is f***ing horrible. F***ing horrible.

We're gonna get done. Baggers have come to play and they're getting guys 20m in the clear. We're getting belted at the clearances without Watto and Hille. And we'll get worse throughout the day when the 6 day break coming back from Perth starts to catch up with us.

Carlton are DEFINITELY tanking if they lose this.
