Campo?
What's the deal? I was at the game and saw him being carried off with a bad knee.
Is it an ACL, i.e. 12 month injury? If so, what a shitty way to end one's career. Everyone deserves better.

I am gutted for him.
I said in another thread that although Campo played 220 odd games for the scum, he's now a bomber and one of us.
He has been pretty good for Essendon, some would disagree but I think he's pulled his weight.
He's out of contract, stated publicly he wants to play on and now he's facing a full knee reconstruction.
Unfortunatley, it will be career ending.
I feel really sad for him.
I hope some praise and tribute goes his way for what has been a fantastic career for him and he's not forgotton by the Essendon faithful.
He deserves it.
Not many boys play 250 games.

He wasn't stretchered off. One would think it isn't an ACL. If it is, then I feel for the guy. He has been severely hampered by injury while at our club.....could almost say jinxed. I for one didn't expect him to get another contract, but no-one wishes this sort of thing to happen. Hope it's not a serious as predicted.

He was carried off by two trainers, BD. I thought it was his ankle but after the game they were saying it seemed like an ACL... which would mean career over.

Yeah, exactly. It took them ages to get him off.robbie67 wrote:Bad luck for Campo. He had been ok at Essendon.
Can someone tell me why the fking stretcher was not brought out? We conceded a goal while we were a man down.
It seemed like we were playing a man down the whole night though. Maybe we should have brought a stretcher out and left it there....

Probably worth a roll of the dice given the amount of pain he'd caused us over the years but the gamble didn't pay off. That said, I'd say he's been a good bloke to have around the footy club and I'm sure he imparted some skills and knowledge on the kids.
A hearty congratulations on your short bomber career, Campo, and an even more hearty "f*** you" for your long Carlton career (believe me - this is a compliment).
