"Your" and "You're"

Can people please learn the difference between "your" and "you're"?

Your is used when referring to something that belongs to someone – "Your ass looks massive in that skirt".

You're is used as an alternative to "you are" – "You're kidding yourself if you think you can get away with that skirt".

Can we please get this right?

Why start now, gringo? Seems to be an epidemic. Noone else seems overly interested. People like us who point it out are grammatical nazis.

Annoys me almost as much as its and it's.
Almost no-one seems to get that right any more.
Perhaps we should just abolish apostrophes and be done with it.

No, we are not writing essays, but everyone should know the difference between possessive and plural
(essays is just a straight plural and therefore does NOT require an apostrophe!).

Let me ellaborate.
We are not writting essays here, so I for one, do not pay attention too my grammar. I think we all know where the apostrophe goes, but can't be f***** worrying about if we put it in or not.

to my grammar

(at least you didn't write grammer - that one kills me too - you even see it in newspaper ads sometimes for jobs at a "grammer" school!!!)

I dunno, i think "you're ass" is a pretty good description of some posters.

I wouldn't let grammar get in the way of a good post.

typos happen, particularly after a few cans and a bad loss.

Oh yeah, thanks, Koala, I forgot to mention that shocker.

One more that gives me the pip too is "different than" (an Americanism). The correct expression is "different from".

Not everyone is an educational scholar here so minor grammatical confusions are going to happen.

Respect basic forum rules of no sms speak, no caps(unless your yelling, or grassy having a rant :P) and use punctuation to separate your sentences.

BASICALLY.......Just so long as its understandable.

For instance...

"dis iz coolz i luv da bomers loyddy iz mi hiro lulz k bie"

NOT ACCEPTABLE...WILL RESULT IN SERIOUS FLAMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(see caps = angry)

Why is it a problem to expect someone to spell correctly or to use the correct grammar?

Is it really that hard to read your posts before you submit?

Yes it is for him. For not even he can believe the crap that he writes.

I'm not too fussed by apostrophes, grammar, or syntax - but what really shits me is spelling player (especially Bombers) names wrong - sure if you can't spell O'hailpin - fair enough - but Lucus for Scotty Lucas? f*** me.
