With the NAB Cup thankfully out of the way, I thought it would be a good time to look into the crystal ball for 2009. Let's 'time capsule' these predictions for review at the end of the season.

1 Where will Essendon finish on the ladder after the Home and Away Season?
2 Who will win the club B&F award, the Crichton Medal?
3 Who will be the Most Improved player in 2009?
4 Who will win the goal kicking award?
5 Which young players are you predicting will make the most impact (players with less than 25 games)
6 Which Essendon player will be this year's "love to hate' candidate
7 Which club will win the AFL Premiership in 2009
8 Which club will win the Wooden Spoon in 2009

I'll preface this by saying that I think we've had an horrible pre-season and I can't see us winning many games until May. All of our best players have had their preparation interrupted and we've got loads of guys coming off surgeries or long term injuries. Welsh is a HUGE loss and about half of our "guns" (McVeigh, Lucas, Lloyd, Davey, Stanton) are underprepared. The only guys in our top 12 that are coming off strong bases are Hille, Ryder, Watson, Fletcher and Lonergan. McPhee is fit but seems to be completely down on confidence.

1 Where will Essendon finish on the ladder after the Home and Away Season? 12th
2 Who will win the club B&F award, the Crichton Medal? Hille with Watson a close second
3 Who will be the Most Improved player in 2009? Davey or Lonergan
4 Who will win the goal kicking award? Lloyd... but I'll be surprised if he kicks more than 45
5 Which young players are you predicting will make the most impact (players with less than 25 games) Dempsey Myers Hocking Houli Reimers
6 Which Essendon player will be this year's "love to hate' candidate Laycock *if he plays
7 Which club will win the AFL Premiership in 2009 Geelong
8 Which club will win the Wooden Spoon in 2009 Melbourne

I'm a bit doom and gloom at the moment which is unlike me - hopefully I'm reading things incorrectly.

Before pre season I would have gone as high as 5th but yeh playing it conservative at this stage but if all goes well with a full squad we are a 4th-8th team.
