R8 Essendon v St.Kilda Match Thread

Post by BenDoolan »

Gonna be a tough match, but I'm hoping for a similar attitude from our players as they approached the Hawthorn game. Our forward line will have to work extra hard against the Saints defence. Monfries and Davey are the keys for applying the forward line pressure and keeping the ball in the F50. We need Ryder and Belly to dominate the ruck duels, and our midfielders need to carry on their good form. Here's hoping...

One in a million shot of winning this but we must be hard at the footy and prepared to help each other out. The Saints are very good at providing shepards, blocks, spoils etc to help out their teammates and we have to match them in that area.

WHAT ESSENDON WILL SHOW UP THIS WEEK?

All I want is a good contest, under 4 goals, i would call that acceptable. But I'm going, quietly confident of an upset  if you call it that. Hopefully we are able to play our free flowing game a little and that we aren't strangled by the Saints. I can't take anymore of my dad's shit and stupid comments about the Aints. Can't wait to burst another bubble this week.

COME ON BOMBERS!!!

I'm off now :D happy posting. If I remember i will post my thoughts from my phone later. Catcha guys and gals ! :D

Have fun whoever is going. This will be the first game I've missed in Melbourne for a long time, I'm feeling pretty bad about it as well.

Quick play by Dempsey and Zaka results in a snap goal to Neagle!!!

Great to see Neagle getting his hands on the ball early.

Saints dominating possession at the moment and McQualter gets the Saints 3rd goal.

We need to start getting our hands on the footy.

We are lacking run at the moment.... very stagnant footy.

Dempsey and Watson have been good so far, LLoyd and Monfries need to get in the game.

Luke Ball goals again for the Saints.... Ray and Montagna are killing us at the moment.

1/4 time

6.5.41
2.1.13

We started getting more of the ball in the last 5 minutes or so but the Saints just dominated. Great to see Neagle looking dangerous in the forward line.

Possessions so far:
Hocking-9
Pears-9- is trying really hard
Dempsey-8
Licha-7
Houli-11
Lovett-8- giving us plenty of run
Watson-7

Monfries is yet to touch the footy and Stants is getting heavily tagged.

second quarter underway....

we must put more pressure on the Saints and stop them scoring freely. Lloyd and Gus need to get into the game more. We arent looking very dangerous in our forward line at the moment.

Stanton just laid a beautiful tackle!!! Lovett is by far our best at the moment. Davey created great run but Slattery stuffed it up haha

Dempsey and Houli both had bad turnovers and Milne kicks a goal against the play... :|

Great work in the middle by Natrat and Hocking leads to a Winderlich goal!!!! We are staying with them in this quarter.

Saints have got the momentum back at the moment and we have flooded our defence, we have nothing up forward to kick to.

Pears and Watson are doing well at the moment.

Great work by Ryder and Lovett again and Myers has marked 15m out.....GOAL!!!!

We have kicked 3 goals to 1 this quarter, they are battling hard. :D
