Bring on the BLUES
Bring on the BLUES
Cannot wait for this game!
Wouldn't be surprised to see 90K at this game.
Both teams have this as their "home game".
Both teams sitting in the 8 on 6 wins and 6 losses.
Friday night prime time, school is out early for the holidays.
It will be HUGE!
AND going by our previous encounters it's one that we can and SHOULD win. Let's hope that's the case.
Don't have a membership or reserved seat, get in early!

Re: Bring on the BLUES
On paper, it should be an absolute cracker. We have had the wood on those bastards for the last couple of years and won against them when they were expected to. For mine, this is a really tough game, but I hope we can belt the living crap out of them and show them what it means to build a side rather than cheat and buy one...

We failed a critcal test against Adelaide. I am afraid I am not so confident against the Blues. They are in pretty good nick at the moment. Still, it would be a season defining win should that happen.

Re: Bring on the BLUES
Back at the MCG will help coz i think we play our best footy in these blockbusters. We have to try and nullify their midfield and the Fev. Having Fletcher back down there will help significatnly but i just hope that Knights actually puts him on Fev. Last time Lloydy had a field day against the Blues defence so hopefully the captain and Lucas can do the same next week.Windy_Hill wrote:We failed a critcal test against Adelaide. We can win of course and it would be MASSIVE but im not overly confident. I kow a heap of Carlton people so we have to win or my week will be hell LOL
Re: Bring on the BLUES
Our biggest concern is our centre clearance work.
Hopefully at the 'G' we'll have the room to open it up and use it better than we have the last 2 games. Otherwise the Scum will nail us. They have been waiting for 2 years to give us pay back and unless we are the top of our game......I for one am very fearful.

Re: Bring on the BLUES
This game will be won in the middle (as so many are). We need Watson, Lonergan, Welsh and Prismall to feed the ball out to guys like Lovett, Dyson and Winderlich to run the ball clear and deliver to our forward line. If we can get up on the clearances we're a red hot show. Ryder will have a huge say on which way this game goes, I reckon.

Re: Bring on the BLUES
I've learnt my lesson from past ess vs scum games, that there are 2 types of games:
a) It will be a close tight struggle the whole game
or
b) We will kick out to an 8 goal lead and they will come back and win / or we boot 5 goals and win
Its just how it goes....

THIS IS MY GRAND FINAL EVERY YEAR! I would rather lose to Filth than ever lose to the Scum! If we lose, I will be so angry. Love to have another year to hang it over scum mates.
Re: Bring on the BLUES
The space at the MCG is going to help, we play our best footy there and will need to be close to our best to win. We're a chance but will be underdogs yet again.

I have an awful, awful feeling about this.
That said, I will be there front row going nuts as usual.

What Windy said.
I will be tipping Carlton TBH, but hoping for a re-run of the first time we met earlier in the season - we broke their "we're going into the finals as contenders" and I'm quite partial to breaking their "We're going into the finals" run altogether

Re: Bring on the BLUES
I honestly reckon we have a better spread of talent over the field than the Blues do. I also reckon we have outplayed them for about 70% of playing time in recent encounters. If we take the chances that we are sure to create - we should win running away. 30 pts.
Re: Bring on the BLUES
They have a big hole in defence without Waite. We have some very good senior players back and should be primed to play against them. Plus our kids have been terrific all year, and our pace really worries them. Our side is MUCH stronger than the team that beat them in R3.

Re: Bring on the BLUES
They jumped us Q1 last time but we came back and won
Fevola had a few early shots but missed DD forced him out wide and that helped. =D>
The G will give both teams plenty of space. We are faster, but they might deliver better.
It's usually a tough game, and I'm looking forward to it.
Whilst watching the game in the Q4 Friday night, it did pass my mind that we were looking settled with the win. I wondered whether they might've just pulled back the effort a tad, knowing the scum have had a long rest.

Re: Bring on the BLUES
Their backline sucks, our forwards are in some form (relatively).
Their forward line is a one trick dickhead, our young backline is pretty good.
I think we can afford to lose the midfield battle (but not get thrashed in the middle) and still win.
The key is tipping - if my sister's friend and I both tip against us, we will win.
