Votes vs Brissy

Post by Mrs Mercuri »

Great team effort tonight despite the draw

5- Fletcher; Bradshaw would have kicked a bag tonight if it wasnt for Fletch. Disappointing that the turnover ended up in his hands coz Fletch had the better of him.
4- L-Murray; Put a horror week behind him and really provided some spark in the midfield and up forward. Solid 24 possies tonight.
3- Watson- 32 possies and wonderful clearance work again
2- Pears- Did superbly on Brown, set up a couple of goals as well
1- Dempsey- had some amazing game saving tackles late in the last quarter.

Mentions to:
Houli, Atkinson, Neagle, McVeigh

Special mentions: McPhee's first quarter was outstanding, Houli did OK, Hurley & Neagle showed some solid signs up forward. Atkinson was very good.

5. Pears (20 poss - 100% effective with 8 contested, 4 marks, 3 tackles) - Awesome game against the best.
4. NLM (23 poss - 8 contested at 78%, 1 goal, 3 marks, 4 tackles. 7 clearances, 3 inside 50s) - Ran hard & attacked the ball well.
3. Watson (32 poss - 12 contested at 66%, 1 goal, 5 clearances. 4 inside 50s) - Inside work pretty good as usual.
2. Fletcher (21 poss - 6 contested, 7 marks, 5 tackles. 11 1%ers) - Protected the goal line well & controlled Bradshaw, although 2 clangers going short down the middle were dodgy.
1. Houli (24 poss at 84%.) - Solid game.

Apologies to Quinn (take out 2 clangers & he was pretty good - 18 poss at 94% & 4 contested. 7 marks, 1 goal, 4 tackles).

Absolutely shattered. Started well & should have got more on the board for the 1st qtr effort. Dodgy 2nd qtr saved with a couple late. Solid 3rd qtr set us up well. Then started the last like crap. Too easy out of the centre. Worked back into it & got back the lead, then a dodgy kick across goals..

Inconsistent game although not surprising considering the personnel.

5- Fletcher: Even though his kicking was a little off he beat Bradshaw who he has struggled on in the past, he also helped out Pears with Brown. Wonder what the critics have to say about him not playing on the best forwards...
4- Lovett-Murray: Seemed to really lift the side when he got the ball.
3- Watson: Back in form, seems to have gotten rid of his injury.
2- Dempsey: His run off half-back was excellent.
1- Pears: Anyone who keeps Brown goaless and also gets a bit of the ball himself has had a good game.

Apologies to Houli, Quinn.

3 - Reimers (getting back to what we expect of him - one of the most important on our list)
2 - NLM (had real speed tonight)
1 - Pears (just keeps getting better and better)
