How Good is Hurley?

That mark on the Nazi Love Child in the last was just all class. He could be the superstar we desperately require.

He's pretty bloody good. Both he and Pears are making the more educated opposition supporters very jealous.

Just need Gumbleton to turn out halfway reasonable. I'll settle for him being as a good as someone like Westhoff, would be very pleased if he showed as much promise as a guy like Tippett.

Pears no chance for AA this year? Stopped Brown and Reiwoldt in the last two weeks playing pretty much one on one...

He's an 80 game veteran already. Certainly plays that way. I wanted this kid on our list so badly. Absolutely rapt he's with us. Now for Gumbleton to rise up.....

Doubt it. Although, he should get close to the RS. We all know Rich will win it though....

Hurley for the rising star nom this week!!! He is dangerous at both ends of the ground and can take a super mark.

Tayte Pears would have to be close to the most improved player on our list... not only did Hille's injury allow Ryder to flourish but also opened up a spot in the backline and allowed Tayte to show his wares.

Has definitely shown a lot of class early on. Other than the fact Gumbleton hasn't been able to get on the park, Hurley's shown a hell of a lot more than Gumbleton has in his limited opportunities. Will become the general down back (if he stays down there) when Fletcher finally departs ( :( )

I think I'm in love with Hurley.

He could just... maybe... just... be the next number on my back, now I've retired my #5 jumper.

He is a f*cking superstar. He absolutely shone at U18 level and was AA in both years he was in that comp (so when he was 18 AND 17 I think) but the transition to AFL for him has been absolutley seamless. He has claimed some big scalps already this year (monstered Tredrea in R1) and can play both ends. He is a ripper.

He is going to be damn good. He is already quite strong for someone so young and will get stronger, his marking is fantastic and he can really roost a ball. His contested mark against Riewoldt under alot of pressure was great.

This young bloke is one of the most promising prospects seen at Bomberland since Sir James.

What I like about him so far is ;

1) Doesnt give away frees in the marking contest but is able to lay physical pressure on his opponent
2) He has a football brain
3) Makes good decisions under pressure
4) Can take a strong grab
5) Can kick pressure goals from around 50
6) Not intimidated by opposition

If he can keep a level head this young guy could go very far.

If I were Knights I'd always play him on "name" players. I reckon guys like Hurley thrive on the challenge of beating an opponent with a reputation. Whereas if played on another youngster the psyche is different.

His marks against Tredrea and Riewoldt speaks volumes of his physical ability and judgement. I know they're only a couple of marks, but it's the way he won the contests that raises the eyebrows.

That you did.

Knights was on the radio this morning and they asked him about Hurley. He said during pre-season, in his first week, some of the older players would just look over and see this kid kick the ball 55 meters on his left foot, no problem at all and just be stunned with the accuracy of it.
He kicks on the left
He kicks on the riiiiiiiiigggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhttttttttttttt
That boy Hurley
Makes Riewoldt look shite!

You did want him BD, I remember. And an excellent call by you as well.

He's going to be very good.
