When the stretcher was called onto the field, and immediately after the match, who was it that gathered the team together and gave a passionate talk?

from that pic it was definitely Watson doing the talking!

Lloyd seemed out of it all day, like he wasn't even at the ground or something

love to know what was said!!

yep i think Watson loves it and will be an excellent captain, will go as far as to say almost as good as Hird (wont say "as good" yet, Hird deserves that). Watson just seems like the kinda guy that can get the boys up when needed!

Watson C
Hille VC

very strong inspiring leaders!

I think Lloyd was affected by the hit on sewell, he would have felt really bad about that, I don't see lloyd as the type who likes to hurt anyone

Dont forget LLoyd was struck in the head, with what is tantamount to the karate strike known as haito uchi when that twerp Bateman was running at full speed.

It looks as though there has been a succession plan in place for quite some time now, this isn't the first time this has happened.

Jobe Watson will be amazing captain next season!! If Hille hadnt got injured this year i think he would have been a good choice as well. With more experienced players like McVeigh, Welshy, McPhee (yes they have been up and down this season but no one can doubt their experience) and Fletch around him as well.... 2010 will be an exciting year.

So hold on - is that official, that Jobe will captain next year??? Or just that's what is hoped for, or aimed for?

As far as I can tell, the only report of it was the news ticker on GameDay on Ch. 7 this morning where it said something along the lines of:
Essendon CEO Peter Jackson says Jobe Watson will captain the side in 2010

I haven't found anything else about this which, I would have thought, would be big news, particularly after yesterday.

PJ said on Triple M on Saturday that Jobe is the future captain of the club, although he made it quite clear that it didn't mean he would be the next captain. Take that as you will.

This could be my new favourite picture...

But I would to see him take the reigns in 2012.., after two years of captaincy from Mark McVeigh...

But that's just what I would like to see...don't think it would happen though...
