Round 4 - Essendon vs WCE Match Thread

I forgot to make a discussion thread this week but alternate threads were made so no point making one at this late stage.

So tonight's game will for me cancel out the Fremantle loss, as bad as it was. If we can win 2/3 interstate games this year then I think that's a giant leap forward. I have the same confidence as last week for this week's game. Hurley down forward with Gumbleton & Willo could worry the Eagles defence tonight, not sure who Darren Glass will take out of the two. If we are going to judge by the pre season NAB Cup Match then we can play the ground well as shown in that first quarter and a half. I expect another big game from Reimers this week and Melksham and Colyer to continue to develop and excite.

My only real concerns are 5 players - Kennedy, LeCras, Cox, Kerr & Nic Nat. Kennedy is a decent CHF and dominated the pre season game as well as Nic Nat who will have much stronger opposition tonight. LeCras maybe a little underdone still after coming off a hammy injury I think but he is a little shit who can bob up and kick a few. The morale is low at Eagles land with the media all over them...maybe it could fire them up or it could have the opposite effect. Expecting big games Winderlich tonight he has been non-existent in this season for me. Barely seen him do anything special.

Really looking forward to the match tonight :)

Expect Glass to play on Hurley. You didn't mention Priddis, which surprises me. I expect Welsh and Hocking to run with Kerr and Priddis. The ruck contest will be interesting to watch.

The danger player is LeCras. Kennedy, combined with a resting ruckman up forward, could do some damage if we let their midfield get on top. LeCras, at their feet (and stand alone), will really hurt us.

Big games coming up for last week's debutants. Need them to really put their best foot forward to make up for big outs in Stanton and Prismall. Of course, we did ok without Prismall last week, but this week we won't have Stants either, which means a heavier workload for the youngsters.

I didn't mention Priddis as I don't remember him having such a big effect on a game compared to those I mentioned. However, I've seen him play well in some matches.

Priddis is a bit like Jobe....you never seem to notice him getiing the ball but at the end of the game he's had 25-30 possies.

so who's gonna kick most of our goals tonight? Williams, Hurley, Hille or someone else I reckon we've got a few good avenues to goal but who do we think is going to shine tonight when we need them? maybee big dave with 4 or 5 if he spends a bit of time down there otherwise Williams with 4 and Hurls with a couple.

Another goal to the Weagles... we need to start winning some ball out of the midfield.
