Huge "ins" for us. We have a bench of 9 at the moment with Stants already named on the forward flank. They consist of:

Prismall,
Zak
Froggy
Spike
Gus
Willo
Sammy
Bacher
Hocking

I would suggest that Gus and Spike are certainties, Davey as he is a good Anzac Day performer and Zak who has been in good form, will get the nod.

This means that Hocking, Houli, Willo and Lonegan get dropped.
Too far for Baker now he's on to it, now he’s got it, OPEN GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Dons are in front by one point at the 8 minute mark

Williams is out injured, and Prismall hasn't been named. Where'd you get that info from Rocky?

And if you think Hocking will be out, I think you might be going a bit loopy

does anyone actually know why teams have to be announced this far in advance? I like the English Premier League system, team is announced on the day! What is the point in listing a 27 person squad. Just wait until the time when you can name the 22 and be done with it.

McVeigh and Davey would be no certainty to play... Lonergan and Houli would be the other two that may be dropped.

Pity that Willo has to miss out on his first Anzac Day clash... would have been very handy in the forward line this week. Having Presti out is a bit of an advantage for us as well :)

A few years back I emailed the AFL about this (yes - too much time on my hands back then!) - they said it was for media purposes - clubs only have to lodge the final 22 only 45 minutes prior to the game.

It's for the benefit of the Football Record, and our "media partners".

i like to see the teams named fairly early, gives us a chance to think about match ups etc.

latest mail:

Mcveigh, Stanton, Monfries in.

Davey, Lonergan, Houli dropped.

http://essendonfc.com.au/news/news.asp?nid=7384

cuts it down to 25. so still a couple to go before the bounce.

Um with us bringing Monfries, Staton, McVeigh and Davey into the squad, it gave us a squad of 26, losing Williams to injury gave us a squad of 25, then having Houli, Lonergan and Davey cut from the squad means we have a team of 22.

So noone else is due to be cut from the team.

Final team:
B: Dustin Fletcher, Tayte Pears, Nathan Lovett-Murray
HB: Courtenay Dempsey, Cale Hooker, Henry Slattery
C: Jake Melksham, Jobe Watson, Kyle Reimers
HF: Brent Stanton, Scott Gumbleton, Ricky Dyson
F: Jason Winderlich, Michael Hurley, David Hille
Foll: Patrick Ryder, Andrew Welsh, Travis Colyer
Int: Angus Monfries, David Zaharakis, Heath Hocking, Mark McVeigh
Emg: Alwyn Davey, Sam Lonergan, Bachar Houli

In: Stanton, Monfries, McVeigh
Out: Mark Williams (foot), Sam Lonergan, Bachar Houli
Good team i think. Lonergan was ordinary in the two games he's played, and Houli has a lot of work to do on the defensive aspects of his game as well his decision-making (his skills are fine, but he puts team mates under pressure far too often by choosing the wrong option). Davey deserves an extended spell at Bendigo.

Welsh better play a very good game in my humble opinion. Played like an absolute dickhead last week. I'd rather Howlett or Prismall in the team. At least they don't go around trying to break the record for most frees given away in one quarter.

BTW I want a lift out of Winderlich and Dyson to be more damagin.

WInderlich looked good in the second half against the Eagles, let's have that for four quarters this week. RUN FAST THROUGH THE MIDDLE!

Dyson seems to get a lot of his possessions this season in the backline. I guess he has played a lot in the backline, but we could do with his pace in the middle. Also RUN FAST THROUGH THE MIDDLE!

Ryder, Dyson and Winderlich really need to lift. Looks like a good side. Hopefully we can get the ball to our forwards quickly to give them the best chance.
