Bomber Melksham a Rising Star

By Luke Holmesby 7:10 AM Tue 18 May, 2010
ESSENDON youngster Jake Melksham is this week’s nominee for the NAB AFL Rising Star.

Melksham has earned the nomination for his 14-possession performance in the Bombers’ win over St Kilda on Sunday.

Since debuting for Essendon in the round three win over Carlton, Melksham has established himself in the Essendon side with his efficient ball use and pace.

Congratulations.

Jake is one of the few who can actually hit a target by hand or foot. Also good decision making.!!

some really good signs with Jake. I just cant believe we have finally unearthed a mid-fielder who has just looked the part from day 1. No 4 years of waiting for the potential to be realised (please not Dyson, Winderlich and co) - he has just grabbed his chance and made the most of it

Love the look of Colyer as well.

Congrats to the recruiting department

Already the best #17 we have had.

The earliest #17 I remember is Steven Carey, who was #17 before him that was of note?

And there was a thread on here before the season started about how unexcited people were about him, after all the excitement last year with Hurley.

Although if I'd known he was second in the TAC Cup last year for clearances and assists behind one T. Scully I would have been excited.
