Megan I respect your comment but there is no way I am talking about pissing off players. Stanton has been with us a long time in fact you could almost consider that he is one of the leaders within Essendon. For mine he dose not not suit our style of play, turns the ball over too many times and when under pressure coughs it up. For a player who has been at this club for as long as he has I am surprised that he has not gone to the next level and shown real leadership in this group. HE IS TREADING WATER!

I so hoped that this was a thread about Pris......but it wasn't.

The thing I don't get about Stants is that if he is touted as one of our premier on ballers WTF is he doing lining up on the FF line, leading from the square?

I was sitting down in the members Ponsford pocket watching him tell guys like Davey, Belchambers and Paddy to vacate the area. I'm not sure how that forward line structure was meant to snag us a goal.

As for Pris.......he needs a good month somewhere else, like Africa because he's doing no f****** good in our team right now.

Doesn't help his cause when he is played deep in the forward line for extended periods. We need have him in the middle more often because when he does play well he is a very handy player to have delivering the ball to our forwards.

It's either Slatts, Stants or Prismall take turns for bashing each week. Can anyone give credit to the opposition that held him. Bateman got in his head and Stants didn't reply appropriately. You can't expect a ripper performance from everyone each week. In saying that, he has a lot of work to do he is better than this.

I think it's more a case of these guys still getting games after not performing week in, week out.

^ Prismall had a good game today. Was very pleased, not many disposals but when he got it he was good. Slatts was okay.... but yeh Stants had a shocker. Wish we could have some consistency with the team, too many changes isn't good IMO. Picking wrong players too.

Downhill skier. With any luck, he can be the uncontracted player who goes to GC17, soft efforts with poor skills. You either have to be an in and under player, or have sublime skills, he has/is neither. Just trots around having a sook when someone is left on their own or someone doesn't pass it to him.

It strange, people pull out the whole "he is so important to the makeup of the team" when defending Stanton and giving reasons why we shouldn't be looking to move him on.

I'm sorry, if Staton is so important to the make up of our team, all that shows is we've got a fair way to go to be a geniune contender. As an AFl midfielder you can't rely on only one attribute, which is what Staton does, his endurance and gut running. He needs something more, pace, the ability to break the lines, the ability to win clearances, far better skills etc.

He is a serviceable to good AFL footballer who is capable of playing very good games of
football as well as very poor games of football (like tonight's).

Oh and he was being played for extended periods in the forward line because Bateman was f****** him silly and he was completely useless in the midfield up until half time.

You are kidding aren't you? That was probably his best game for us, was one of the few players who could hit a target and actually kicked the f****** ball in the 1st half.

You all need to get a grip on reality.
If he is shit as some people believe then Why is the hard tag from the opposition put onto him every week?
Problem being that we don't have anyone else that can break a game open - in time Guys like Melksham,Prismall,Collyer and perhaps Zacha will take that next step - freeing up Stanton...
Stanton struggles with the really hard tag and needs someone else to really step up so that he can be released to be very damaging again...
Very important player to this Great Club.
Jobe is also doing a super job but did he get the hard tag tonight...?
