Yeah, there's a few who could be 2 hit wonders with the follow-up single selling on the basis of the popularity of the 1st.

Rick Astley was an abomination. Another of the Stock, Aitken, Waterman puppets.

Check out this clip & shudder:

Most of the ones I was going to say have been mentioned already. But here are a few more.

Walking On Sunshine - Katrina and the Waves
Sex Symbol - Flame
Single Bed - Fox
Movie Star - Harpo

Here's a few eclectic ones:

Your Ghost - Kristin Hersh
Glass of Champagne - Sailor
Message to Rudy - The Specials
Would I Lie to You - Charles & Edie
Fade to Grey - Visage
Mexican Radio - Wall of Voodoo
Make Me Smile - Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel
Echo Beach - Martha & The Muffins
Sounds of Then - Gangajang
Don't Fear the Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult

I'm thinking this may have enough legs to make up a 'One Hits Wonder' CD to burn. I've already done my Cowbell CD.....

A few more while I'm at it:

Love & Pride - King
For Your Love - Yardbirds (maybe debatable if this qualifies)
Werewolves of London - Warren Zevon
Ca Plane Pour Moi - Plastic Bertrand

Definitely have enough there for a 25 song CD in all the above....

You and royza have pretty much copied the songlist for ma upcoming wedding! However a couple i have to dispute.

Faergal, far and away the ugliest dude EVER to hit no.1 also had a hit with You little thief.

Chris De burgh had a hit with "Don't pay the ferryman"

Rick Astley had quite a few manufactured hits

Sade had many hits if in a niche market. Sweetest taboo was another mainstream hit.

Cannot agree with Yardbirds. They had several hits including:

I'm a Man
Shapes of Things
Over, under, sideways down
Heart full of Soul

Aso spawned a couple of useful guitarists in Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck and Clapton.

Blue Oyster Cult were huge in the US so I don't think they would qualify as one hit wonders

Kung Fu Fighting - Carl Douglas

Video Killed the Radio Star - Buggles?
Convoy - forgot who sung it

They were my fav one hit wonders. One song that I thought was absolutely brilliant was from The War of The Worlds soundtrack - Forever Autumn by Justin Hayward.
I listened to the first disc last night just so that I could hear that particular song and it is pretty damn good.

Of course Justin Hayward was a member of The Moody Blues so he was hardly a one hit wonder.

One hit wonder as a solo artist?

Harsh call Ben...I'm not sure that he went solo...it was more that he was asked to do that song because of his status. The Moody Blues were still recording after The War of the Worlds was released.

Just being technical  The song is attributed to Justin Hayward and not Moody Blues.

Anyway, I just wanted to mention the song because it was a f***'n goodie!

If we are being technical, Limahl had a hit with Never Ending Story after he left Kajagoogoo :)
