Nicknames

Post by pear »

I read somewhere (not sure if Bombertalk or somewhere else) that Carlton supporters had taken to calling Nick Stephens "KD" after singer KD Lang ('cos he refuses to pick up a man!)

It got me thinking about what nicknames some of you may have for past or present Bomber players. I'm not talking about the 'official' nicknames of the players such as 'Fish' Salmon or 'Bomber' Thompson; I'm talking more along ones you and your mates have made up, eg:

Damien Peverill "Pills" - you can't get that ugly without taking ugly pills. (Note, he took over this nickname from Alan Ezard).

Damien Hardwick "Throbber" - Hard wick = throbber. Sometimes also known as blue vein. Same reason.

Sean Denham "Foetus" - Cos he looked like one

Hopefully you get the drift. I'll have a chat to my mates and see what other gems lie in the closets of the Windy Hill outer.

I'm unsure if this is a nickname he actually HAS or not, but I call Ricky D 'The Vacuumn' and not because he sucks.

Cupido was the Tinman - had no heart.
Solomon was the Scarecrow - had no brain.
Mark Bolton is Gretel, as in Gretel Killeen - completely devoid of talent.
Jobe Watson is the Placid Mule - can't kick.
Somerville was 'Honeymoon', as in he was about as useful as a spare dick therein.

Ryan O'Connor - Slo'Connor (stands to reason)
Mark Fraser - Orphan (think about it)
David Calphorpe - Scarecrow (no brainer!)
Peter Cransberg - Air Berger (from wearing the same number as Michael Jordan)
Tony Delaney - Funky (from rapper Del the Funky Homosapien)
Dale Kickett - O.B.B. (all the hype at the time was for Long, Wanga, and Che. Kicket was just 'the other balck bloke')

Not particularly clever but my brother and I have

Hollywooooooood Monfries!

Go figure.

Hollywood must be said like the how the movie exec. in The Simpsons says it: "We then send those cards to Hollywooooooood California!"

When I lived in NZ, a 'window licker' was a derogatory term for those special kiddies who get the special bus to school.

Sorry Winderlich, but it was too hard to resist making the obvious connection!
