Famous People you've met
Famous People you've met
Well I was working today and I noticed a Nova 100 car rock up out the front of the supermarket. Then out steps Dino from Big Brother and he came into the store. Not that it was huge and I didn't really care because I don't count him as a celebrity and you see John "turkeyslapper" walking round Knox City Shopping Centre everyday. So my question is have you met a famous person, it can be whoever, and what were they like?
Hmmm intersting,
Said G-Day to Jimeoin in Baby Bunting (Balwyn Store) in 2001. Cool chap, same mannerisms in the store as on stage.
Unfortunately sat next to Wayne Carey on a flight back to Melbourne from Sydney when I worked for Ansett. He said nothing, just read the paper. Next to him was Tony Grieg who just slept the whole way.
Saw Madonna in her getaway car at the terminal at Tullamarine (the car was underneath the terminal and next to the Engineers room where I was working). Nothing said and nothing happened.
Said G-Day to James Reyne and David Hookes in the Ansett terminal.
Shook hands and had conversations with Graeme McMahon - when he was boss of Engineering at Ansett. He was a top bloke and a very good operator.
Played suburban cricket with former AFL footballers Sean Wight, Jon Ballantyne and Illja Grgic. All 3 are terrifc blokes and characters.
Played indoor cricket against Shane Harwood. He gets very narky when things don't go his way.
Kevin Sheedy came down to our nets and bowled some leg spin at Aberfeldie Park in the early 90's. The boys were doing some pre-season training at the athletics tracks next door to us. Kev is a cool dude and mucked around with us for half an hour.
That's about it. Insignificant, but thought I'd mention it.

My wife used to play netball with Ross Glendinnings wife and I got to meet him at a party one night.
He is a top bloke, didn't want to waste time talkingabout himself and was much more interested in hearing about my travels. I've seen him on numerous occasions since then and he alsways goes out of his way to say g'day and have a yarn. He knows I'm an Essendon supporter and gives me a bit of shit lately but it's all in good fun.
I also met James Crawford (basketballer) at another netball related party. really interesting guy...he'd just retired from basketball and was doing a lot of charity work. We spent an hour or so talking about that.

"You can quote me on this... He is gawn" - bomberdonnie re Hurley's contract status 25 February 2012
You can give me the 1st prize now.... King Richard...Yep, the man himself. Bumped into him in the city one day, had a bit of a chat with him too. Told me how he rued the flags he missed out on as Captain/coach, namely the 47 (lost by a point at the death against the scum) 48 (drew with the Dees after kicking 7.27 then lost the replay) and 51 (lost by 11 points to the Cats in the big one after Coleman had been rubbed out for the whole final series)

Brilliant stuff, the Wildcats of the early 90's! I lived in Perth from 91-93 when basketball was all the rage and the Wildcats were the hottest ticket in town and we used to go to every game! Great times. I got to meet all the players plenty of times, got all the signed stuff and used to show it off at school much to the jealousy of classmates. I even met Tiny Pinder before he went to jail.swoodley wrote:I also met James Crawford (basketballer) at another netball related party. really interesting guy...he'd just retired from basketball and was doing a lot of charity work. Back in 1988, I happened to meet both Bob Hawke (then PM) and John Howard (then opposition leader), but in different places & circumstances.
Little Johnny - wimpy wishy washy limp fish handshake. Most unimpressive so-called "leader" I have ever come across. Even seemed intimidated or afraid of me, if that makes sense.
Bodgy Bob - actually is even shorter than Howard - tiny man with huge hair and huge ego. Came across as very slippery but not unlikeable I suppose.

Some people will be more impressed than others - for about three months I couldn't walk out my damn door without running into Boonie. If I went to the supermarket, he was lined up in front of me, if I walked down the mall, there he was walking towards me.
I seriously think David Boone was stalking me.
(He wanted me)
(for budding legalese - I am seriously being sarcastic. All pending lawsuits can be sent to megan@pissofanddie.com)

Was an official for Targa two days ago, and lets say he's taking the race pretty seriously... or was.

Oops. By 'he' I mean Eric Bana not Glenn Ridge.

Tim Freedman - The Whitlams
Mark Owen - Take That
Greg Norman - I had a signed gold ball of his too, but it got lost somewhere in one of my many moves
Wil Anderson - Didn't like him one bit. He just looked down my top and acted like I wasn't cool enough for him to have a conversation with me (I wasn't, but that isn't the point)
