Bombercol, that's true. Got my tickets lined up for Alex Lloyd at the Northcote next month, and Tim Freedman on the 1st December at Manchester Lane. And going to see the Killers (Okay, not Aussie, but still good) on the 14th.

It's going to be a good couple of months if I can get a few more gigs in.

Sounds like you're going to be very busy.

There's nothing like going to see a band and a bit of live music.

I hardly get to go as much as I'd like to, a month or so ago I went to see Beasts of Bourbon and Magic Dirt and that was good fun.

I'm going to the Big Day Out in January which I'm really looking forward to.

As far as CDs, I bought the new Hard Ons album, Most People Are Nicer Than Us. Should be good, I reckon.

Kisschasy played here in Cairns last night, and put on a good show. Drew a pretty good crowd, and rocked pretty hard. Feeling the effects of a few too many beers tho.

Been a good few weeks here in Cairns. Kisschasy last night, 'gurge last week hot on the heels of the powderchair show a couple of weeks back. We're often starved of good live music up this way...

It'd be hard living in that area, I would imagine. I'm spoiled for choice here, and I love it.

It seems to go thru phases where we get lots of good bands coming thru, then periods where nothing happens. It's getting better...one venue has been pretty consistent getting quality shows up as often as possible.

Having said that, it makes it lots of fun 'cos the crowds are always amped up and full of energy, and ready to rock.

And BrisVegas is only a 3 hour plane flight away, if any major international acts roll on thru.

Not the same though, as being able to say "Hey, bla bla band is on tomorrow at the Corner. Think I'll mosey on down and have a look"

I do that a lot of weekends now. Going to see a flamenco troupe tomorrow.

True keri. It's not the same. But we make do.

Compounding the problem is there is much of an outlet for local bands up here. If you can find a venue that actually has live music anymore (sorry, DJ's and doof doesn't count) then it's all lame, pub cover bands. Shame, really...

There's nothing worse than that. The punters want the music, but the bookers are cocks.

I never thought I'd like anyone else's version of Teardrops - with the possible exception of Katie Noonan - but he did it justice.

Now listening to Less Is More by Even
Just as an aside Robbie, my brother was the drummer in Even.

The band has gone into semi-retirement (probably a good thing, as they missed their chance on making it big) with Ash now playing guitar with Paul Kelly (& Peter, the drummer from Rockwiz) & Wally concentrating on tour management.
Really? I loved Even. Wasnt Ash also involved in another band called Rail?
Yep, did a couple of albums with Rail. Even do have a new CD coming out soon, so keep an ear out for that.

Saw Ash last Friday night up here in Darwin with Paul Kelly (not a bloke I'd normally see, but Ash got me a freebie). His guitar playing is still spot on & I reckon he blows Dan Kelly off the stage, even though they do blend well together.
