Votes can't possibly be rubbed out by electoral staff, since there are party scrutineers watching them during the count (one of the most important features of our democracy).

The explanation I have always been given is that pencils are cheaper and also store better, don't smudge etc.

Meh, my wife has good taste in music and even she calls me a music nazi so i have to cop it. Friends of mine have said that Nick Hornby based his character Rob from Hi Fidelity on me.

Deep Purple are still shit though.
