A good quality in life.. is knowing when to quit when you're behind..
Re: Scott McIntyre from SBS....
Inside the little bubble of your perception where freedom requires you to be able to do anything you want with no restrictions, there is no freedom in Australia including no freedom of speech. In fact, no country in the world has any freedom.Gimps wrote:A good quality in life.. is knowing when to quit when you're behind..
Just be aware that most other people operate under a different definition than you.

Yet the majority of people in this thread disagree with you? Must be the difference in sample size that gets you over the line.Sismis wrote:Inside the little bubble of your perception where freedom requires you to be able to do anything you want with no restrictions, there is no freedom in Australia including no freedom of speech. Re: Scott McIntyre from SBS....
Scott McIntyre was virtually unheard off prior to his rant about the ANZACs.
Probably thought that by attacking such a sensitive subject whether he believed it or not, would get him some publicity and put his name about the traps.
Looks like he has succeeded.

Essendon Football Club- We arent arrogant, just deluded.
Re: Scott McIntyre from SBS....
We have limited freedom of speech. The degree of the limit depends on certain laws and certain "moral" thought police such as the media who whip up hysteria and outrage at the drop of a hat.

Oh my, you are trying to claim victory based on that? I do believe it reinforces many of the arguments that I have put forth.Sismis wrote:Sismis 1BenDoolan wrote:We have limited freedom of speech. Again, we do NOT.Sismis wrote:Gimps wrote:We don't have freedom of speech in Australia.
We have an implied freedom of expression.
Re: Scott McIntyre from SBS....
You clearly don't understand what that means, in addition to the implied freedom of expression that has been legally tested in the examples YOU have given, it is also an explicit right:Gimps wrote:Again, we do NOT.Sismis wrote:Gimps wrote:We don't have freedom of speech in Australia.
We have an implied freedom of expression.
The right to freedom of opinion and expression is contained in articles 19 and 20 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).
Either of these is demonstration of the protections in place for freedom of speech in Australia.

Yes, legally tested and resulting in different outcomes? Lange v ABC rings a bell.
Re: Scott McIntyre from SBS....
Different outcomes regarding whether the governement can legislate against the "protected freedom". Both rulings state it exists.Gimps wrote:Sismis wrote:You clearly don't understand what that means, in addition to the implied freedom of expression that has been legally tested in the examples YOU have given, it is also an explicit right:Gimps wrote:Again, we do NOT.Sismis wrote:Gimps wrote:We don't have freedom of speech in Australia.
