What are we reading?
What are we reading?
There used to be a thread with this title but I'm starting a new one because I'm too lazy to find the old one. Please feel free to enter details of any books you've read and found interesting as I'm always looking for something new to read.
I've just finished reading Vietnam - The Australian War by Paul Ham and found it a fascinating read.
I've always thought that I had a fair understanding of what happened there (and why) but this guy has revealed a whole heap of stuff that I was not previously aware of.
I recommend it to anyone who is interested in that part of history.

Dexter in the Dark by Jeff Lindsay, third of the Dexter series. Must confess I'm not enjoying it nearly as much as the first two which I read prior to the show being made/released, it just isn't the same now I have a mental picture of what the characters, and furthermore the confusion between the characters in the book vs the characters in the series.

Do the books go beyond the series?Megan wrote:Dexter in the Dark by Jeff Lindsay, third of the Dexter series. At the moment I am reading Skinny Legs And All by Tom Robbins.

Just finished reading Underbelly. Fantastic book. Goes into a heap more detail than the TV series. Picked it up for $12 at Target as well.

Robster, the series is based loosely on the books... the characters are slightly different (to the point where there is Vince Batista in the book, one character) and the relationships between them which I wont go into detail about incase you choose to read them!

I love Dexter the TV show, actually just finished watching the end of the second season yesterday. Might have to give the books a go.

Re: What are we reading?
Gats, hard to say if it's because of the series or not, but I enjoyed the first two books immensely, not so much the third.

What is strange about this book is that, or at least my understanding is, the Underbelly series is baced on the book Leadbelly, but then we have this Underbelly book. I might buy both books as I'm a little confused. Which isn't hard.BERT wrote:Just finished reading Underbelly. Fantastic book. Goes into a heap more detail than the TV series. Without knowing I assume the books are the same but the name was changed to cash in on the TV series popularity... Could be wrong, it has been known to happenThe Fly wrote:What is strange about this book is that, or at least my understanding is, the Underbelly series is baced on the book Leadbelly, but then we have this Underbelly book.
