Richard Wright Dies
Richard Wright Dies
For those old enough to remember and enjoy Pink Floyd, Richard Wright died overnight from cancer. Wright was a founding member of the band but eventually fell foul of Roger Waters during the recording of "The Wall" and was sacked. He toured as a session muso during the tour for The Wall before getting back into the band after Waters left following "The Final Cut"
He was credited with co-writing five tracks from "Dark Side of the Moon" including the classic "Us and Them"

I'm sorry the guy is dead, but Pink Floyd were shit. Self indulgent, synthetic, clap-trap.

Whatever they were, they captivated my mind. They put on great shows and their songs live on and on. Not many bands capture my attention, but they certainly did....and still do.robbie67 wrote:I'm sorry the guy is dead, but Pink Floyd were shit. Self indulgent, synthetic, clap-trap.

Ah...the youth of today
Pray tell oh music experts...what should us older people be listening too?
What in your worthy opinions is to you, what the likes of Floyd and Zeppelin are to me?
I await your replies (I'm always looking for new music to listen too)
PS: Dance crap and electronic shit need not be mentioned.

Listen to whatever pleases you. No one's asking you to stop listening to what you like just because they may personally think Floyd or Zeppelin are/were junk.swoodley wrote:Pray tell oh music experts...what should us older people be listening too?

Just because you don't like a style of music does not mean the music is crap.jimmyc1985 wrote:I concur. Pink Floyd were sublime musicians. Gilmour's guitar playing, Wright's keyboards (especially on Echoes) were excellent.
There's plenty of music I find boring however can still appreciate the talent of the musicians. Even with Pink Floyd there was stuff they did that was out there, especially Ummagumma and the preceding albums.
It all comes down to personal taste.
Richard Wright RIP. The musical world is worse off for your passing.
