Swoop for Cyril Rioli
He is out of contract and Hawthorn will struggle to pay him what he is worth. Says he would not leave Hawthorn although if there was one club that could change his mind. surely it would be the club he has loved since he was a toddler, has openly declared he dreamed of playing for, and was home to two of his favourite uncles.
With the Draft likely to be barren wasteland over the next 2 years thanks to the GC17 concessions, surely we should be looking to nab a potential superstar from another club whilst we can. We have the room in our salary cap, we have the heritage and prestige and we will be playing finals for the next few years at least
I say go get Rioli

Re: Swoop for Cyril Rioli
If this is the case then he must be an absolute priority for the club
I too say go for it.

It just fell out of the sky

It would be a nice thought Windy, but I can't see it happening...
That said, we should definately dangle a carrot and see if the bunny bites

I think we should concentrate on developing our own players.
We have an excellent young list and should be looking to secure it rather than poach other team's talent.

Nah... No chance Windy. Would love to get him but we had our chance. If Hawthorn let him go their fans would demand the head of every recruiting staff member on a stick... No-one would be that stupid...
Re: Swoop for Cyril Rioli
The wraps on this kid were huge from the get go years before he was drafted.
Why we did not draft him is beyond belief IMO. We dont deserve him. Plain stupidity on behalf of the EFC for not drafting this bloke when we had the chance.
We will have to pay threw the nose for him I believe. Lets just hope he has a good manager and mentor to stop clarko and co. trying to pitch the ol' take a cut for the team thing While all the other high profile dawks get theirs...

I'd love Cyril at Essendon. I'd give every and each one of your left nuts for him.

Should get Dean Rioli to have a quiet word in his ear.

Anything's possible in football today. Who would have though Judd would go to Carlton prior to 2008?
We have a very good culture at our club, particularly with indigenous players.
