Ambrose
Re: Ambrose
Worth it I think. I would love to see how he goes in a coherent defense.
Re: Ambrose
Yeah he's showed a bit since his move to defense.... One more year... I can handle that.. Any longer and I'd be scratching my head
Re: Ambrose
he must stay in defense though. even if he is quiet as long as he can mitigate his opponents influence hes done something. up front you cant say the same thing.
Re: Ambrose
Playing as a forward he was a liability having to turn back into traffic not being agile enough.
Playing back where your responsibility is a (negative) stopper and you play straight ahead rarely having to having turn back our way suits his skill set. He after all presses 150kgs plus only bettered in the AFL by Fraser Gehrig so strength duels are no issues and has impressive scalps hanging from his belt in the 2nd half of the season. Well done Harvs.
Happy with one year (especially as Zerrett and him are besties )

Re: Ambrose
Later we may come to see him as Mr. Versatility. Bomber always said, he's got a big heart.
Nothing usually happens until something happens.
Re: Ambrose
Yeah so does Phar Lap - and he at least can keep his feet.
Trouble with Ambrose is that he is neither one thing or another......Too small to be a KPP - not quick enough or skilled enough to be a mid - overhead marking is a rare treat.
He has done a job on the odd occasion this year - but others have gone well past him.
Yet to be convinced.

Re: Ambrose
Ambrose is Hooker Mark II.
Has really shown in just a handful of games that he can be a very effective nullifier down back.
Not as tall as Hooker but better defensive pressure at ground level.
Don't forget, Hooker copped a lot of hate on here. Now he's a club favourite. Not to mention an All Australian

Re: Ambrose
The only dude to press more than 150 in AFL History is Fraser Gehrig. Hard to get past; once your tackled, likely to be hurt; straight ahead back man suits his skill set.Windy_Hill wrote:Ambrose is Hooker Mark II.

Surely that 150 stat is incorrect?Flip wrote:The only dude to press more than 150 in AFL History is Fraser Gehrig. Hard to get past; once your tackled, likely to be hurt; straight ahead back man suits his skill set.Windy_Hill wrote:Ambrose is Hooker Mark II.

Essendon Football Club- We arent arrogant, just deluded.
Re: Ambrose
150 really isn't a lot but then again these guys don't train purely for numbers, they would be doing a high amount of reps for sure.
Re: Ambrose
Bloody hell - the thread starts off talking about Ambrose and then turns into a discussion of lifting of weights and dumb bells.

Well he stuck with his man and didn't fall over as often as he usually does.F111 wrote:He had a bloody good game today.
Lynch is the most over-rated forward since.....oh shit - there's always Jack Reiwoldt.

Turn it up. Lynch had an off day. I'd give my left nut to have him at Essendon.hop wrote:Well he stuck with his man and didn't fall over as often as he usually does.F111 wrote:He had a bloody good game today.
