BIG BASH;

Melbourne Stars 7/141 off 20 overs (G. Maxwell 50, K. Pietersen 30, M. Swepson 3-14) defeated by Brisbane Heat 1/144 off 14.1 overs (C. Lynn 63*, B. McCullum 61)

It has got me buggered how wrist spinnes are the most damaging bowler in T20 cricket. In years gone by, the thought of playing a wrist spinner in limited over cricket was laughed at. Jim Higgs, Peter Sleep, Trevor Hohns, Bob Holland were only considered for Shield / Tests. Nowadays, no wrist spinner is considered for Tests - mainly limited over stuff.

The problem is the shorter forms of the game BD.
Especially 20/20 where variety is king.
They play so much short form the ability to hit a spot ball after ball to build pressure is lost (applies to batsmen and patience).

P.s. I don’t expect anyone to control a ball as well as Warne or to bat like Bradman...

I think the leggies benefit from batsman having to force the pace. In tests, the batsman can wait for the odd loose one to find the boundary, but also milk singles as necessary. No such luxury in T20 especially.

Yep, that’s the logical explanation. Just looking back, selectors were a bit stoopid thinking wrist spinners were a big risk for ODI’s in the 80’s. Although, I guess “back in the day”, there were some damn good fast bowlers around!

Haha! That last over of his deserves an investigation for possible match fixing. It was atrocious.

(Tongue in cheek, he's too good a bloke to cheat).

It was almost like he was feeling guilty of the thought that he might be the one to win the game for the Renegades.

When he dropped Turner at third man, he turned around and saluted the crowd like he was some sort of hero. I understand the connection there, but FMD, that looked stoopid. And then came his last over...

Wow!

Can’t imagine his teammates being too sympathetic towards him after the game :lol:
