Asian Football Championship
Dukes with 2 lovely goals and Harry sealed it at the end.
4-0.
Viduka resposnds as a captain should. I and many others have been bagging him for a long time when he has played for teh national team, but he dug deep tonight and put us through to the next round.
Still looked poor in the second half, but at least we have made it to the quarters. I can handle losing in the semis, not in the first F****** round.

did anyone see the spray he gave Kewell in the second half when Harry didn't chase back hard enough ??AnarchicBomber wrote:You know who I reckon is tops? Jason Culina. Hard worker, good skills, great tackler.
I did however think Cullina and Grella were instrumental in allowing Thailand too much space in the second half. were too deep on the edge of the box. although I suspect a fair bit of that had to do with the coaching tactics of Arnold to protect his fagile back 3.

Lucky to escape elimination there.
Hopefully that was the wake up call they needed to get their game into gear and make a fist of this competition.

Thought the two defenders Milligan and Beachamp were great. Also thought Carney player very well and with a lot of energy.
But Vince Grella was average. Technically he is great in the start stop serie A but he's been smoked in the midfield. Brec's prety much the same.. very clever and creates space but not fast enough to break down a defence.. but did play really well in the first half last night.
Against Japan,
Alouisi Out - Kewell in
Carney Out -Neil in ( I don't agree with this one but it's just a prediction).
BTW does anyone know what time the game starts on Saturday ?..looks like there are two potiential time slots.

Grella should have had a yellow at most, he did catch the Japanese player high but it wasn't intentional. Some really bad decisions against Australia as well.
Disappointed with Nakamura's game. He should have scored from a free kick in the 1st half which would usually be an easy shot for him and it hit a Japanese player. He'll play better once he gets back into the hoops shirt!!!
