Your source for declaring altitude training works for Collingwood is the Collingwood coach?filthy2 wrote:From the horses mouth Rob.robrulz5 wrote:I've lost count how many times this has been explained on here, it wears off very very quickly.filthy2 wrote:...altitude training etc.

Essendon Football Club- We arent arrogant, just deluded.
Re: Tomorrow ...
Fair go Filthy, if Abbott wrote an article in the Australian, that The Liberal Party were the party to lead the country, would you link it as fact?
Re: Tomorrow ...
Rob under normal circumstances I would agree with you but unfortunately for you, me and fellow Bomber Horde members, he has the runs on the board and is pointing at the scoreboard.
Re: Tomorrow ...
Altitude training is not a long lasting effect.
All it does is, for the time you are there is give you an added boost. Which means instead of having to work at 100% at sea level, you only have to work at 50% at high altitude for the same result.

You cannot work as hard at a high altitude as the air is thicker. The blood becomes more vicious which means it is harder for the heart to pump blood around the body, this increases the heart rate of the athlete.
It does increase the amount of red blood cells in the body which improves the VO2 max but this will return to normal after about 3 days at sea level.

so it's basically freshening them up but still maintaining full fitness?
im guessing it's more in their heads then anything else which isn't a bad thing

In my uneducated opinion, I reckon what we seriously need is attitude training, not altitude training.

Very well put BD.
Re: Tomorrow ...
Maybe....just maybe, if we had drafted some better footballers, we could train in Afghanistan and still be good?
You cannot tell me that if Hird, Bomber, Evans and co thought that altitude training was the way to go, we wouldnt have done it? Give it a rest.
Lets stick to the facts for a change shall we? Cameron Wood is probably the only player in Collingwood's best 22 that wouldnt walk into the team at Essendon. We have maybe 7 or 8 players that would walk into theirs. Dont even get me started on how many more "A graders" they have compared to us. Lets swap lists, send the new Collingwood players like Watson, Hurley, NLM and co to Arizona, and we will do our pre-season here with Jolly, Pendlebury, Krakour, Shaw, and it would be us second on the ladder, and them 8th and struggling.

Oh,and by the way, yes I know I am stretching saying Wood is even in their best 22.

I reckon we should train at sea level only - that's where the grounds we play on are located.

BUMP.
This is one time I really, really wanted to be wrong.
As Major Hocksteder says to Klink, "klink...your dossier is getting thicker and thicker"......as is James' end of season to do list.
Who is on the Untouchable list?
Who is on the Trade List?
Who will be delisted?
I can only think that that we have to get as many draft picks as possible, pick quick mids and hopefully pick up a "gun" ready made existing, experienced player (unlikely I know).
Funny isn't it? Best Coaching List in the business. Going to have the best facilities. Great Admin. Ambitious and brilliant Pres. fantastic past and heritage.
But it is a FOOTBALL Club.
So you look at its main assets, the players, and just roll your eyes and sigh.
