Re: Stanton and Dempsey stay
Some diabolical list management stuff from the club.
I can handle one staying due to how many we have to cut but to give some guy 2 years at that age is F****** brain dead.

Re: Stanton and Dempsey stay
Stants will be able to teach the kids.... something.
Re: Stanton and Dempsey stay
Stanton has been very serviceable and durable. Rarely gets injured. I don't have a problem as long as he's used as a top-up player or to help the kids coming through.
Dempsey with a solid pre-season should have a good year in '16.

Re: Stanton and Dempsey stay
Would be good to have a coach before too many list management decisions are made.

How about signing up a coach before signing up list cloggers.

Well f*** me with a pineapple ... Dempsey? Has the football skills of a french snail and the attitude to match ... rebounding HBFs are not too rare - though it is rare to find one who butchers the ball so much!
Does the club still think its in a premiership window??? Otherwise what the f*** are they playing at? Are they scared of possible legal action???
PS ... if Dempsey comes back after the break for the third year in a row overweight and out of condition - sack the sod!

Re: Stanton and Dempsey stay
Not ideal, at most both should have got 1 year.
I think they may have kept Demps based on his form in the forward line this year tbh...

Good. Dempsey set for a good season under a new coach.
Like sand through the hour glass, so are the days at the Essendon Football Club.

Re: Stanton and Dempsey stay
Senior midfielders that average 25 touches aren't just exactly lying around at our club.
Though on a more serious note, senior midfielders who have an absurd work ethic and provide a ridiculously good example on how to train and behave off field like a senior professional footballer whilst still racking up touches and has conceded he will play VFL most likely for second half are even rarer.

Re: Stanton and Dempsey stay
This is why were are a laughing stock. We love assembling a list resembling a social club rather than a football club. Rewarding him two years because of his "work ethic"? Setting a "good example on how to train"? Sign him up as a coach, not as a footballer.boncer34 wrote:Senior midfielders that average 25 touches aren't just exactly lying around at our club.

You know as well as I do, "racking up touches" means absolutely jack shit when it doesn't equate to scoring opportunities, or when his opponent is racking up more damaging touches going the other way.
It amazes me that some think the club owes him a living.
