Re: Goldstein?
It's a no from me.
At the end of 2024 he'll be gone and we'll be back in the same position of needing a backup in case Draper or Bryan go down.
Might as well get that future backup now.
Either draft one, or better still, trade a promising youngster in from another club.

Re: Goldstein?
Would have to sell it to Bryan who just signed a 2yr deal and expected to get more minutes now Flip has gone..
Great tap ruckman and can take a grab up forward..

Clarkson and Ratten both had Goldstein behind Xerri this year, even though Goldy is superior to Xerri.
Goldstein should not walk straight into Phillip's role. Bryan handled himself fairly well when he was picked in the 1sts. I would expect Bryan to improve with another preseason AND with more games put into him.
IMO, it seems more like the coach getting people he liked and trusted in his previous job. Add McKay to the incoming.
I've been in a workplace where a senior appointment walked in and over the course of 18 months, brought in people who reported to him in his previous job. The place went to hell.

He's told the 'roos he wants out.
Re: Goldstein?
Draper having a knife stuck in his groin...might be insurance in the short term?

Goldstein was impressed with the Hangar facilities when he toured there the other day…

Worth a punt to be at least a back up, but also a good guide and coach for Drapes and Bryza.

But what would TBell (our current ruck coach) do?Windy Hille wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 8:49 pm Worth a punt to be at least a back up, but also a good guide and coach for Drapes and Bryza.

Make me a Bomber: Todd Goldstein wants to continue his career at Essendon

North Melbourne free agent Todd Goldstein has decided to move to Essendon.
Goldstein informed North Melbourne and Essendon and Monday afternoon, according to a source with knowledge of the decision.
North free agent Todd Goldstein has chosen to move to Essendon
Goldstein had a medical at Collingwood last Wednesday and, out of courtesy to Collingwood with the grand final on the weekend, had waited until Monday to inform clubs of his decision.
Essendon prefer a two ruckman system and, with Andrew Phillips retiring, wanted an established ruckman to come in to work with Sam Draper. They may also use Draper forward more often next year.
Goldstein’s decision means Essendon coach Brad Scott will be reunited with two of his former players from North Melbourne in Goldstein and fellow free agent Ben McKay

Re: Goldstein?
I’m okay with Todd Goldstein coming over to Bomberland. He’s a damn good ruckman and he can teach Draper and Bryan a thing or two.
Menzie!!
Things go awry without Jye!!

Re: Goldstein?
Maybe this will put to an end his insistence of using our players heads as punching bags!!!!
Too far for Baker now he's on to it, now he’s got it, OPEN GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Dons are in front by one point at the 8 minute mark
