Paddy Ryder

Talk about everything Essendon. Past, Present and Future if it's about the Bombers this is the place to be.

Pity the offer wasn't made sooner so we could have chased some genuine talent from other clubs (greenwood etc).

In what way is it tempting when we stand to lose one of if not the best ruckman in the comp in exchange for two picks that history suggest will amount to little if anything?
Like sand through the hour glass, so are the days at the Essendon Football Club.

Would the acquisition of Giles make it easier in our thinking to f*** Ryder off?
No deal. I'd rather take nothing and take our chances at the grievance tribunal (should it come to that) and/or talking Ryder into playing with Essendon again.

Either Port stick a decent player with pick 17 or it's no deal.
I agree. Tell Port to piss off. And apparently we are the club that's hard to deal with

We have lost him already ...

Do you really think he will come home ... tail between his legs and play for us if we hold out?

And even if he plays for us again - would be even give a realistic or honest effort... let alone 100%?

Port are cockheads - but they've always played hard - we got little for Monfries and they deliberately screwed us over re Joe D in a really really shitty draft year http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_AFL_draft in which Menzel, Jaksch, Lonergan and Broomhead went before our next pick... (BTW - looking at the list EFC did well with Ashby, Kommer, JD, Goddard and Baguley coming on board that year ... Hams, Van U and Gregory were the others selected)...

Why the f*** should we be the club that tries to hold out on behalf of the other 17 against the rising power of player managers calling the shots?

Would be very weak of us to stand down and accept such a shitty deal. It's time to tell Ryder that we are going to trade him somewhere else, if he doesn't want to honour his contract then we shouldn't care where he ends up as long as we get a fair deal.

So why the f*** hasn't the club gone to the Federal court and slapped an injunction on Port for attempting to persuade PAddy to break his contract - this is covered under the tort of inducing breach of contract and an interim legal "cease and desist" might just put the wind up certain cashed up backdoor deals.

GWS are looking to trade any of picks 4, 6 and 7 for a big name player before 2pm tomo.

(source traderadio, GWS list manager Matthews)

this is to do with Ryder, apparently its wrong to create a trade thread on him over in Drafting and Trading. pfft.

send him to the Giants. Screw Port.

Stanley and 60 for 21 - makes Ryder worth a hell of a lot more than 17 and 37......

Trade week is a f****** joke - sooky f****** pre-madonnas changing clubs at the drop of a hat contracted or not!! Enjoy the precedents you are setting AFL for allowing this shit...

Surely we just trade paddy for Giles and one of the giants three top 10 picks.

Port have SFA currency obviously. None of their stars quite rightly want out. They did make a prelim and gave the eventual premiers a shake. If you were a PA player would you want to move?

The solution is we tell Paddy Port is off. U want out of Melbourne it's Sydney.

While not quite as aggressive as this I do tend to agree. We should not budge - he has contractual obligations! Good luck with the grievance option - not sure you will have much luck there. Threaten to retire - go ahead - I would rather that than you going to a club that could be challenging for a flag around the same time as us!!

If he wants to play for EFC next year great - give it your all or sit in the magoo's.....JUST GET OFF THE f****** FRONT PAGE!!!!

I'd love us to talk the afl into letting us trade him to their love child GWS for Giles and a top 10!!! Is there any chance in hell this could happen?? That is the only way we get a fair deal on Ryder!!! Otherwise it's like having to watch Wanga play awesome for those bastards all over again!! Those two picks just aren't fair!!

We will accept their shitty deal just to avoid going to any sort of tribunal which we know won't rule in our favour.
