No Reward for Effort
No Reward for Effort
For starters that is the worst umpiring that I have seen this year.
Yes it’s easy to blame the maggots but for the sake of the game and supporters (and I don’t just mean ours) then the standard must lift.
The AFL must address this issue otherwise this game of ours is to become an also ran in the world of sports.
I can accept bad or missed decisions but I can not accept total incompetence.
Today they have detroyed my once huge faith in the game.

It just fell out of the sky

Those useless c**** at the AFL tink their is nothing wrong with the umpiring, or anything else for that matter. Timekeepers, 19 men on the ground, the fact that useless c*** Geishen keeps his job. They do everything to perfection down at headquarters. They have a bunch of dodgey Gold Coast buisnessmen fawning over them. It's all those c**** care about.

Idon't usually give the umps a spray because I hate the idea that people think you're just whinging cause you lost.
But some of the decisions in that first half have been nothing short of absolutely rediculous. And as much as we sound like a pack of bleating little bitches... how many of those poor decisions are going against Port?

Like I said elsewhere. I hope the bald cnt gets "poozed", and dies a slow painful death.Megan wrote:Idon't usually give the umps a spray because I hate the idea that people think you're just whinging cause you lost.

Who was that arsehole No.15? f*** me, he was lucky to get off the ground alive. I have never been to a match where the crowd continually booed and vented that much anger at one particular areshole the whole game. That rotten piece of shit deliberately ignored infringements against us, and it just seemed like he invented infrinegemnts for Port. When he paid Ryder a free kick in our F50, the whole area where I was (including me) stood up and gave him a sarcastic standing ovation while hurling abuse.

I've never heard an Essendon crowd so vocal, even if for all the wrong reasons...

I haven't ever heard any crowd voice their disgust at any one particular "person" for such a sustained period of time!Megan wrote:I've never heard an Essendon crowd so vocal, even if for all the wrong reasons...
I don't think the security guards had either given their immediate reaction to escort the maggot in question as soon as the half time siren went!
Re: No Reward for Effort
The Essendon crowd were feral as I've ever seen them. Yes, Michael Jefferey I think his name is a complete and utter wanker and hopeless umpire, but aren't they all. With all these people booing you everytime you bounce a ball or whatever, and Lloydy and the crowd, it probably contributed to more sh*tty decisions he paid against us because of that booing. Umpires have a problem with us, I don't know why ![Sad :(](./images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)

Umpires have ALWAYS had a problem with us.
I can remember booing my little heart out as a kid in the Showers Pavilion (aka the "granny stand"),
directed at Kevin Smith, Bill Deller and other dreadful umpires of that era.

Is there any occupation in the world where you can:
1. Make $100,000+
2. Make as many mistakes as AFL umpires and the AFL in general do.

Re: No Reward for Effort
Are we going to take bets on how much Lloyd's theatrics at quarter time is going to cost us?
I'll say $10,000 - and just because it's Essendon, double it, none of it suspended!

Shouldn't cost us anything unless he abused them. The captain is allowed to approach the umpires.Malky wrote:Are we going to take bets on how much Lloyd's theatrics at quarter time is going to cost us?

Re: No Reward for Effort
I thought they stamped that out a long time ago due to ALL the captains having a whinge at each break.
Still, even if it is allowed, I'm sure the morons at the AFL will conjure up some charge!

Nicholl's performance, especially in the first quarter, was one of the worst since Mclaren Gate.AFL set to fine Bombers over umpire chat
The AFL is set to fine Essendon after captain Matthew Lloyd approached the umpires at quarter-time in Sunday night's match against Port Adelaide at Telstra Dome.
As Port smashed Essendon in the first term, Bombers fans became furious with some decisions.
While the free kick count was close, Essendon coach Matthew Knights told Lloyd to ask the umpires about their interpretation of the holding the ball rule.
This followed a strong tackle on Adam Thomson that was not paid as a free kick to the Bombers.
Instead, play continued and Power captain Warren Tredrea kicked a goal soon after.
"I thought it was an excellent tackle - and I thought there was prior opportunity," Knights said.
"I spoke to Matthew, just to go and ask on a clarification, but the umpires sent Matthew away, obviously it had to be after the quarter-time break for that to happen.
"I'm going to have to speak to (umpires boss) Jeff Gieschen, from my perspective ... there doesn't seem to be a holding the ball rule anymore or prior opportunity, it just seems to be that part of the game, you make tackles and even if there is prior opportunity, it's just a restart, a bounce.
"We've just got to adjust to that as a team, we haven't really adjusted to that rule very well."
Four years ago, the AFL changed their rules so no player or official could even enter the centre square at the quarter-time and three quarter-time breaks, let alone approach the umpires.
"I would have assumed it was one of those innocent mistakes, if it was a scenario," Knights said.
"Matthew was going over to speak very rationally and just ask the question on a clarification."
